The warm weather is coming and that means more people are going to be heading out doors. The great outdoors is a fun place to be when the weather calls for it but it can also be dangerous. When ever you are doing summer sports such as ball sports or biking always remember to take safety precautions such as helmets. There are more sports related brain injury then you can imagine. A helmet saved my daughters life two years ago and every since I have made it a point to remind people just how much is at stake if you do not wear a helmet. You are protecting your brain when you wear one. Just think about that statement! Here are some statistics (remember these are people just like you) of people seen in the hospital due to brain trauma in a year: cycling 64,993, skateboarders 16,477, horseback riding 11,759, trampolines 7,975, baseball 25,079, basketball 24,701 and there are many more categories. I just wanted you to have an idea of how the simplest things can be dangerous if you do not pay attention. No one starts out there day thinking they are going to be hurt. With the right precautions the summer and summer sports are fun and they should be.
