The unstable economy is on everyone’s mind these days. I was enjoying my lunch and I over heard a table of several men engrossed in a conversation about what the economy had done to them. One spoke of how he had lost the family home that they had worked so hard for. Another said that they had downsized so they could keep as much as they could without loosing it all. Another spoke of the financial strain causing a divorce between he and his wife of many years. Still another spoke of the fact they were living on their children’s college education money. This is truly a sign of the times. I then find out that each of them had lost their high paying jobs and were, as of then, unemployed! You wonder how could this be? A group of professionals with different skill sets and each without a job. I became involved in their conversation as did several others in the diner. They explained how they had done debt consolidation and they were glad they had because they were trying to hold on to their good credit as long as they could. They knew they could not have been able to afford the many payments they were making before consolidating. They were each, of course, hoping for a job soon and were out on the search when they had stopped for a lunch. The diner chiming in to these mens’ stories just made us all aware of how severe this economic situation is and how it is effecting our homeland upclose. The chance that you will not be effected directly by this downed economy is like dodging a lightening bolt! We should all have ourselves and our families prepared should the unfortunate happen to us.
